Evaluating the Role of Labor Unions in the Politics of Decarbonization: Insights from Political Economy and Socio-Technical Transition Studies (MA ’19)
Jesse is a student in the concurrent Master’s degree program at ERG and the Goldman School of Public Policy. His research focuses on the political economy of energy transition. He graduated from Brown University with a degree in Anthropology focused on Latin American Studies, and spent the next 7 years working as a labor and community organizer. He served as the Executive Director of the Rhode Island chapter of Jobs With Justice, a coalition of over 50 labor, community, student and environmental organizations. He led advocacy campaigns that won six major legislative victories on issues ranging from access to housing to re-entry of formerly incarcerated people, economic development and environmental policy. His work at ERG explores the employment impacts of climate and energy policy, seeking to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, equitable low-carbon economy.
