At ERG, Michelle is interested in environmental and equity challenges within global food systems. In particular, her research focuses on the dynamics of land use change in agricultural landscapes in the tropics and the resulting impacts on biodiversity, natural resources, and livelihoods. Before joining ERG, Michelle worked for three years at EcoAgriculture Partners in Washington, D.C., on programs that utilized integrated landscape management to improve environmental, economic, and social outcomes in biodiversity-rich agricultural landscapes. Prior to this, Michelle worked for two years at a non-profit called Pueblo a Pueblo in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, managing a project that aimed to strengthen the livelihoods of coffee farmers through beekeeping and honey production. In her free time, she loves to spend time outdoors, go backpacking, paint, and travel. She has a B.A. in International Relations and Spanish from the University of California, Davis.
