Putting biodiversity on the map: exploring spatial dimensions of California biodiversity for conservation planning (MS ’22)
Molly studies California watersheds. Her research investigates strategies to improve forest health, protect biodiversity, and nurture human relationship to the ecologies that sustain life under climate change. In particular, Molly seeks to understand how value systems shape collaboration across fragmented landscapes, and the role of collective governance in building rural economic justice. Her graduate work draws on ecohydrology, fire science, political ecology, framework for a Just Transition, and traditional ecological knowledge to investigate the systems that govern water resource management in California.
Prior to ERG, Molly facilitated grassroots planning for climate justice in a variety of human-ecological systems from Chicago to the Bay. She graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2011. Outside of school, Molly practices folk herbalism and volunteers on prescribed burns in her home watershed, the Russian River.
