Jason MacDonald
Jason is interested in optimization and control of distributed energy resources to support renewable energy integration into the electricity grid. He works at Lawrence Berkeley National lab researching wholesale electricity market integrated demand response and electric vehicles, particularly to provide fast reliability services. He graduated with from University of Michigan with an MS in Natural Resources and the Environment, and a MSE in Mechanical Engineering, where he conducted research on emisssions impacts of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. His professional experience includes a stint as a Systems engineer at GM working on the Chevy Volt, and a Systems Design Engineer at Borrego Solar Systems, where he designed commercial and residential PV installations. Jason obtained a Bachelor’s from UCLA in Mechanical Engineering, the highlight of which was his two semesters abroad in Singapore.
