Ryan has spent the last decade developing modeling tools to explore technology pathways for deep decarbonization with special focus on electricity systems. His current research works to incorporate additional dimensions beyond cost and reliability into long-term planning models with special focus on understanding the physical footprints of decarbonization pathways and the impacts and feedbacks on natural systems.
