In the current pandemic of Covid-19, ERG professor Isha Ray points out how the public health directive to “wash your hands” is a challenge for people lacking access to clean water. In her article on Matrix, she describes the need to increase water and sanitation investments to prevent further spread of disease and simply increase the standard of living for all families.
“When there is no running water, or no mechanism for delivering enough water, you cannot practice good hand-washing. COVID-19 may not differentiate between prince and pauper, but running water does,” Ray states.
